The custodians

The hands that tend this ground.

A memorial forest is a promise measured in generations. These are the people who keep it — who live with this land, shape it, and care for it as their own. Because it is.

Co-custodian · Pachamama Forest Retreat

Tertius du Plessis

Tertius is co-custodian of Pachamama Forest Retreat near Rheenendal, Knysna, where he has spent years building and caring for the land, its cabins and its community. With a background in applied psychology and years of retreat facilitation through Awakening Journeys, he brings a deep understanding of both the practical and the human side of this place.

For Tertius, the memorial forest is a natural continuation of Pachamama's calling: a place of rest, healing and meaning — now across generations.

Custodian · the landscape

Abraham le Roux

Abraham is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years in private practice — a lifetime spent guiding people through loss, change and healing. He is also an artist: trained in fine art with a major in ceramics, his work later moved into glass casting, with a refined eye for curation, design and architecture.

A father of three and grandfather of three, he understands how precious memory is. At the memorial forest he shapes the landscape itself — every tree planted with the same care he has given people all his life.

Custodianship, not management.

The forest is not maintained by a contractor on a schedule. It is tended by people who live here, whose own family history is folded into this valley — and its care is secured beyond any one lifetime by the dedicated care trust.

Begin

Every forest starts with a conversation.

Whether it's an immediate need, planning ahead, or simply a wish to walk the forest first — everything is arranged through Ever After, our sister funeral brand. One gentle conversation covers the visit, the ceremony, the plot and everything in between.
